When it comes to WordPress and membership plugins, your options are plentiful. But, what if you want to integrate your membership plugin with 1ShoppingCart.com or one of it’s branded partners? Unfortunately, you don’t have quite as many options; after a bit of Google Research, I was only able to locate two suitable options.
WishList Member and Magic Members appear to have this particular market cornered. Since these products are so similar, there’s really no point in doing a side by side comparison so this review will focus mainly on the key differences.
Both WishList Member and Magic Members provide:
Features – Unlimited Membership Levels, Member Management, Content Protection, Download Protection, Coupons and Discount Codes, Content Dripping, Affiliate Program Integration, Pay Per Post View, List Server Integration (MailChimp, Awebber and GetResponse), Login Redirection, Member Export and Premium Support.
Payment Gateways & Shopping Carts – 1ShoppingCart, PayPal, Stripe, ClickBank, Authorize.net and 2CheckOut
Neither Magic Members or Wishlist Member provide:
BuddyPress/bbPress Compatibility, WooCommerce Integration or Google Wallet as a Gateway option.
Key Differences in 1ShoppingCart Integration:
Magic Members uses the 1Shoppingcart.com api key in conjunction with your account id, while WishList Member works with the basic 1ShoppingCart plan it uses a simple integration. O.K. so what does this mean? In simplest terms Magic Members requires a 1ShoppingCart pro account (think more $) and Wishlist Member will not automatically cancel or remove access to protected content for lack of payment; an admin will need to do it manually.
Magic Members Specific Functionality
Features:
Coupons and Discount Codes, Amazon S3/AWS Integration, Magic Kicker login restriction plugin (Free with Pro License) and Magic Affiliate Plugin Integration
Payment Gateways & Shopping Carts:
CCBill, MoneyBookers, Paypal Pro/Express, PayPal Website Payments Pro, WorldPay, iDeal, Epoch, Payza, Ogone, SagePay, eWay, PagSeguro and Manual Pay
WishList Member Specific Functionality
Features:
Wide range of 3rd Party add on plugins
Payment Gateways & Shopping Carts:
Infusionsoft, Premium Web Cart, QuickPayPro, Red Oak Cart and SIMPLE integration (allows for integration with more payment systems, but admin will have to manually manage cancelled or non-payment clients).
Pricing & Packages
While both plugins are yours for life (after purchase) with no additional fees (bit of marketing mumbo-jumbo here), they both require an annual fee of $47 for support and updates (support isn’t a big deal, but without updates the plugins would become a major security risk over time).
Wishlist member offers a monthly membership for $25 or $299 annually.
Magic Members offers three non-developer packages, single user at $97, three site license at $197 and unlimited license at $207 (includes free copy of Magic Kicker).
So which Is Better Wishlist Member or Magic Members?
It all comes down to what you are looking for, but since the prerequisite here is 1ShoppingCart.com (or a branded partner) integration, Magic Members seems to be the clear winner in terms of automation, built-in functionality and overall cost.
