When PHPMyAdmin won’t import, try a BigDump

BigDump staggered database uploader

If you have ever been stuck trying to upload a huge mySQL file in a hurry, you know how frustrating it can be. PHPMyAdmin is powerful, but sometimes those imports stick and your stuck with a downed website. Enter BigDump: Staggered MySQL Dump Importer. S

Sometimes you need to restore a very large backup of your mySQL database (or a part of it) into the new or the same mySQL database. If you can’t access the server shell and you can’t import the dump using phpMyAdmin or any other scripts due to hard memory resp. runtime limit of the web server, get BigDump. BigDump runs staggered imports of large and very large MySQL Dumps (like phpMyAdmin 2.x dumps) even through the web servers with hard runtime limit and those in safe mode.

The script executes only a small part of the huge dump and restarts itself. The next session starts where the last was stopped. The last version includes some very important bugfixes and other improvements. Please don’t hesitate to report any bugs in this release but read the usage notes and the FAQs first!
