1. What Journalists Want from You
==================================
Journalists don’t want bad press releases, awful pitches or
gratuitous compliments. They want:
–Your attention. Pay attention to what they’re covering.
–Sources. Let them know you’re available to comment.
–Leads to other subject matter experts they can interview.
–Answers to questions they’re asking on the social media sites.
–Comments about their work–good, bad or otherwise.
–Story ideas. But it’s almost impossible to know who wants to
be pitched on Facebook or Twitter, and who doesn’t.
There’s one way to know for sure.
I explained what it is, offered step-by-step directions and
even gave a handy 15-point checklist to everyone who signed
up for the webinar I hosted Thursday on “How to Use Social
Media Sites to Connect with Journalists.”
We’re editing and producing the video right now and I’ll email the
download link this weekend to everyone who signed up so they can
access the video replay, MP3, PowerPoint slides and the checklist.
If you missed the call, register here and I’ll send them to you, too.

2. Free Training for Authors
==============================
Jack Canfield, co-creator of the “Chicken Soup” series, has
launched 47 New York Times bestsellers with over 500 million copies
in print or online.
He’s teaming up with Steve Harrison, who has helped more than
12,000 authors promote their books, to create several free training
videos.
The videos include tips on how to get started writing your book,
what it takes to hit the New York Times bestseller list, the
“bypass marketing” strategy that made the “Chicken Soup for the
Soul” a huge hit, and not-so-obvious traits of bestselling books.
I’m thrilled to be a compensated affiliate for this program because
too many people email me long AFTER they’ve invested years writing
books they can’t sell–and it’s usually too late for me to help
them.
