4. Hound Joke of the Week
This Week in the Hound House:
I’ve given up on trying to create a pretty video studio in a
dingy room in my basement. Despite my best attempts, it still
looks like a dingy room in my basement. Plan B: I bought a green
screen and lights on Amazon. I’d love to hear your tips on
choosing backgrounds that work best with green screen videos.

1. Use Pinterest as a Blog Magnet
======================================
Lots of Publicity Hounds have asked how I lead people back to my
blog from my Pinterest board on “50 Tips on Free Publicity” at
http://pinterest.com/publicityhound/50-tips-for-free-publicity/
Simple.
I upload the JPEG image from my hard drive to the Pinterest
board. Then I hover my cursor over the image and click on “Edit.”
In the link window, I type or paste the link that leads people
back to the blog post where I’ve written more on that tip, and
then “Save Pin.” This is a two-step process and I don’t know of
any shortcuts.
At the blog, I link from the image (tip) to my Pinterest board.
This little project, which I learned from Don Crowther, my
Mastermind coach, has forced me to blog nearly every day. Almost
1,100 people are following the board.

2. Bloggers: Your PR Ambassadors

When you write a blog post about a niche topic, do you wait for
traffic to come flowing in? Or do you let other bloggers in that
niche know about the post so they can share it with their much
bigger audiences?
When I wrote “7 publicity tips for your arts and crafts business”
at http://publicityhound.net/?p=11880, I included a short summary
about this newsletter at the end, with instructions on how to
subscribe.
But I got just a few dozen hits to the blog. What a
disappointment!
Then I reached out to two art marketing experts who I know have
big audiences: Alyson Stanfield and Ariane Goodwin. Both shared
the link with their communities. Traffic skyrocketed immediately
and as of this morning, the post has gotten 1,111 unique
visitors.
Lesson: Let bloggers who are stars in niches know about your
valuable content that ties into their niche.

4. Hound Joke of the Week
====================================
Thanks to Publicity Hound Maria Antonia for pointing out this
excerpt from the book “Alfred Hitchcock” A Life in Darkness and
Light” that explains how Hitchcock directed Sean Connery on the
set of Marnie:
“Every once in a while the director did venture minor
‘adjustments and suggestions’ (Connery’s words) in the rhythm of
scenes–which, according to one Connery biographer, largely
consisted of advising the actor to shut his mouth while listening
for his cues, and inserting ‘dog’s feet’ into his lengthier
speeches.
“Dog’s feet?” asked a mystified Connery.
“Pawses,” Hitchcock drawled.
