1. Make It THEIR Idea, Not Yours
==================================
Put yourself in a journalist’s shoes.
Which of these two Publicity Hounds would you rather connect
with?
PH #1: “I have a story idea and I want publicity.”
PH #2: “I saw your tweet linking to your story on education
reform, and I know another good source on this topic.”
I’d jump at PH #2’s offer and respond immediately. That’s called
building the relationship. And when PH #2 contacts me again, I’ll
pay attention.
But that’s not the way most people do it. Most prefer to be PH
#1.
It’s quick. It’s easy. But it’s usually a waste of time.
Most journalists—but not all–hate being pitched on the social
media sites. Those that do love finding tips, leads and sources
that make covering a story THEIR idea.
I’ll show you how to know who wants what when I present the
webinar “How to Use Social Media Sites to Connect with
Journalists” at 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, June 7. Even if
the time is inconvenient, register anyway because I’ll send you
the download link for the video replay and the other materials.

2. 5 Ideas for Facebook Photos
================================
Finding photos to share on Facebook always seems like such a
chore.
Can’t we just type a quick status update and be done with it?
Well, yeah. But Facebook views photos as more important, which
means photos (videos too) will find their way into your friends’
and fans’ news feeds quicker than a status update that’s text
only.

3. Infographics for Advocacy
===============================
You don’t have to be a nonprofit to learn fabulous ways to use
infographics.
I love these examples of images used by advocacy groups to
promote a cause or issue:

Few Publicity Hounds have big budgets to hire graphic artists
like the ones that did these. But you can still create your own
much simpler infographics to use in a marketing or publicity
campaign. You can access the video replay of a webinar I hosted
recently on “How to Easily Create Free or Inexpensive
Infographics” at

“They say the dog is man’s best friend. I don’t believe that.
How many of your friends have you neutered?”
