This Week in The Hound House:
I found my prescription sunglasses on a top shelf in the rafters
of my garden shed, where I store things I don’t use much. The
3 blind mice must have moved them there.

1. An Irresistible Phrase on Facebook
======================================
“Fill in the blank: Today, I am grateful for______________.”
That simple little status update on my Facebook profile recently
encouraged 23 of my friends to Comment.
I don’t know why, but people find it hard to resist responding
when you tell them to fill in the blank. Maybe it’s because they
don’t have to think hard, and it makes Commenting so easy.
Telling people to fill in the blank leads to more Likes, Comments
and Shares on both your profile and your page. And the more they
engage with you, the more likely they are to see your future
status updates.
“Fill in the blank” is one of the simple tips I’ll be sharing at
4 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday when I host the webinar “35 Ways
to Promote Your Facebook Page.” Everyone who registers will
receive my tip sheet on “12 Types of Content Facebook Fans Love.”
Don’t miss this one, and if you can’t attend, sign up anyway
because I’ll send you the link for the video replay. Register at

2. Experts Directory Deadline Saturday
=====================================
Saturday is the deadline for being included in the 2013 issue of
the printed version of The Yearbook of Experts, Authorities &
Spokespersons, which is sent to hundreds of journalists and
broadcasters who are looking for guests.
Shows include top-tier media like “60 Minutes” and “All Things
Considered” on NPR, to niche shows like SportsCenter and Martha
Stewart Living radio on SirusXM.
You can claim your spot in the directory with a subscription to
ExpertClick’s NewsReleaseWire, a great tool to send news
releases, optimized for the search engines, to top media all over
the world. This service lets you post 52 press releases a year.
Here’s a tip I discovered on how to use Expertclick when I don’t
have a press release.
I upload the current issue of this newsletter. It’s one more
place people can find me.
Publicity Hounds can save $100 on membership, or $10 on a monthly
account, with this link:

Or enter “Publicity Hound” in the special offer box. Mitchell
Davis runs the place and gives outstanding customer service. You
can reach him at 202-333-5000 for questions, support, or if you’d
like to sign up over the phone. I promote his service as a
compensated affiliate because it’s one of the best deals going if
you have a lot of press releases or other content to distribute.

3. How to Find a Corporate Sponsor
====================================
You don’t always need a giant budget for publicity.
Corporate sponsors and global nonprofits with deep pockets are
just waiting to partner with authors, speakers, experts and
others who share their message and their philosophy.
At my blog, I listed nine things that these partners can help you
promote. (I’ll bet you’re trying to promote at least one of
them.)
Read the list here at http://publicityhound.net/?p=13234, and
learn more about a free webinar tomorrow–Wednesday, Nov. 7–that
will explain how to find corporate sponsors that are willing to
do a lot of the heavy PR lifting for you.

4. Hound Photos of the Week
====================================
Voting Day in the U.S. seems an appropriate time to share these
50 photos of patriotic dogs. (I like #11, #26 and #37.)
