Dirty hotel glasses story on D.C. radio show today

Steve HarveyThanks to Publicity Hound Natasha Henry, a writer for the Tower Federal Credit Union in Laurel, Maryland, for letting me know that the story on dirty hotel glasses, which I wrote about several weeks ago, was featured this morning on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” on 96.3 WHUR-FM in Washington, D.C.

“It’s interesting to see how fast this story is getting around,” Natasha said.

Indeed.

I don’t know if Steve’s topic can be traced back to me, but videos like this one have legs. At LiveLeak.com, where I first noticed the video, it has received more than 4.1 million views. Thanks to the Internet, the bad publicity that results isn’t just from the original newscast but from all the other viewings as people forward the link to their friends and Digg it, and bloggers like me write about it.

And still, nobody from Embassy Suites, Sheraton Suites or the Holiday Inn have called or emailed me to explain what they’ve done as a result of that TV investigation about the unsanitary way they clean the glasses and coffee mugs in guests’ rooms.

Have any of the trade associations for hotels, by the way, responded to this investigation?

I was at the Embassy Suites in NF Ontario YESTERDAY and the maid did this RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I was shocked it was still happening after the story was leaked out.
