This Week in the Hound House:
My shopping is done. But, oh, those tips…Etiquette experts say you should consider tipping the garbage collector, your Zumba instructor, house cleaner, hair stylist, elevator operator, child care provider, nanny, barista, dog walker, dry cleaning delivery people, personal trainer and school bus driver. And that’s only the short list. You can find the long one, suggested amounts by occupation, and tipping do’s and don’ts in this helpful Holiday Tipping Guide.
1. Your Gift Awaits…
It’s my annual “Best of The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week of 2014,” ready for your reading pleasure and for regifting to your friends and clients.
Fetch! Read all about what it includes, grab the book and use our handy app.
This year’s ebook has a special emphasis on book publishing, marketing and publicity. The ease of publishing means more authors will be facing stiffer competition online and offline to sell print books and ebooks. Read my pointers on how to sell a truckload.
You’ll find coupon codes sprinkled throughout that give you half off products in my store, good until Jan. 5.
Claim yours now, and share the goodies.
2. Take a Fun Survey
The tipping chart that I mentioned above was created by Care.com, based on a survey of its 1,300 members in October.
The online company helps you find child care, senior care, pet care and housekeepers. The survey is a classic example of how rack up a lot of mileage–and publicity–using just one tactic.
The tipping guide has been covered by CNNMoney and Inc.com.
What survey can you conduct next year that will promote your expertise and your business or nonprofit? You’ll get ideas galore in my ebook, “How to be a Kick-butt Publicity Hound,” the best all-around learning tool if you want free publicity. Read more about what you’ll be able to do if you follow my helpful advice.
3. Microsoft Small Biz Contest
If you liked last week’s tip about the $20,000 grand prize in the FedEx contest for small business owners, you’ll like this one too.
Not to be outdone, Microsoft is giving you a chance to explain how you turned your small business dream into a reality. The grand prize winner gets $20,000, one office 365 Small Business Premium package and, get this, one publicity package.
Create a two-minute video, upload it to YouTube and paste the link from your video into the completed entry form.
Publicists, share this information with your small business clients.
Thanks, again, to Michelle Wicmandy of Collective Changes, who’s in The Publicity Hound Mentor Program, for sharing this link. Are you a good candidate for the mentor program?
4. Hound Video of the Week
