This Week in the Hound House:
My new favorite product is Premier Protein, an 11-ounce protein shake that delivers a whopping 30 grams of protein and only 160 calories. I use the vanilla-flavored shake as coffee creamer or drink it straight from the container when I don’t have time to fit protein into my meal. Great for traveling because it doesn’t need to be refrigerated until after it’s opened.
1. Year-round Holiday Gift Guides
Studies show that up to 60 percent of consumers rely on recommendations from others when they’re looking for a product or service.
That’s why getting your product, service or book into holiday gift guides can be a powerful publicity coup. You don’t have to buy an ad. Instead, the newspaper, magazine, TV station, radio station, podcaster, blogger or website is giving your product its stamp of approval by featuring it in their gift guide.
You don’t need publicity in top-tier media gift guides either. Hundreds of gift guides are geared to narrow niches.
I found gift guides for eco-conscious consumers, more than a dozen gift guides for gamers, gift guides for women travelers, and even a gift guide for the shop and garage.
These gift guides, featured year-round, are also ideal homes for books, as long as the topic is a good fit for the target audience.
This Thursday, from 4 to 5:30 Eastern Time, I’ll show you how to research gift guides on your own, learn their deadlines, pitch your product, and keep getting publicity long after Christmas. Join me for the paid webinar “How to Get Your Product Featured in Holiday Gift Guides.” Everyone who registers will receive 10 free “short leads” for print or broadcast media, websites or blogs that are looking for products now through the end of the year. I can’t guarantee they’ll be a good fit for you, but the leads will help you understand how this process works.
To do: Register for “How to Get Your Product Featured in Holiday Gift Guides”. If the time doesn’t work for you, that’s OK. I’m recording it, and I’ll send you the recording, the 10 free leads and the other bonuses within 48 hours. #giftguides #giftsections #holidaygifts
2. Hot Topics for October Pitching
Cyber security, a sizzling hot topic in the race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, is also a perfect idea for pitching during October, National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
Wayne Kelly, a morning radio show deejay, suggests experts pitch stories on the best anti-virus software, whether we need it for our phones, and the three things that everyone who owns a computer must do before the sun sets tonight.
That’s one of Wayne’s “Top 10 Hottest Media Topics for October.”
To do: Register with your name and email to watch the free 90-minute training video with Wayne and me on “How to Promote Your Book to More than 10,000 Radio Listeners for Free, Month After Month.” #pitchingtips #freepublicity #radiopublicity
3. Book Review Deadline Tonight
Quick Reminder:
Midnight tonight is the deadline for grabbing Debbie Drum’s “Book Reviewer Targeter” software program and the giant package of bonuses.
Her program shaves weeks off the tedious chore of tracking down Amazon reviewers who share their contact information. Many reviewers don’t, which means many frustrating hours of searching for a way to pitch them and ask them to review your book. The package comes with a fill-in-the-blanks template for your email pitch. Easy peasy.
To do: Watch the video replay. Or go directly to the sales page where you can read Debbie’s killer offer on how to start using her software today to contact reviewers. Bonuses include tips on how to avoid getting reviews removed by Amazon, how to make money over and above increased book sales, how to handle bad reviews, and how to participte in month Q&A calls about Amazon and digital publishing. #amazonreviews #bookreviews #getbookreviews
