This Weekend in the Hound House:
I’m spending the weekend in the garden. While I was in Denver last weekend, it seems to have exploded with weeds. My friend loaned me his waist-high Fiskars weed puller. But I need a mechanical engineer to teach me how to use it.
1. Publicize Your Blog Posts
Too little traffic at your blog?
I feel your pain. Same here.
That’s why I collect email addresses of fans like you and send these free tips twice a week.
This email list includes about 5,000 names. But only a sliver of those people visit my blog.
With an email list, you can cross-promote from your email tips to your blog and vice-versa. (See Tip #2 below.)
Several hundred people have opted in to claim my free Cheat Sheet on “10 Profitable Ways to Use Email to Create SuperFans Who Help You Sell Books.”
If you haven’t written a book yet and don’t plan to, grab it anyway. It will give you ideas galore on how to use email to turn fans into SuperFans who buy everything you offer.
2. How Authors Become Experts
Here’s an example of how I’m using these free tips to publicize my blog posts.
I featured a four-part series this week on how authors can become experts in their topic and promote their expertise, and I don’t want you to miss it. That’s why I’m sharing the titles and the links here.
If you’re not an author, read them anyway. You’ll find tips galore on how to become an expert and promote your expertise, regardless of what you’re selling.
- How authors become experts and promote expertise
- How controversy creates publicity for experts
- How authors make it easy for people to find them online
- Why fiction authors can be experts and how to promote it
Please comment at the bottom of the posts and feel free to share your success stories on promoting your expertise.
3. Repurpose Your Audio, Video
The four blog posts I shared above required a lot of formatting and editing but very little writing.
That’s because I repurposed a one-hour podcast with host Judith Briles who interviewed me.
I went to Fiverr.com and hired someone to transcribe it for $45 (a steal). I divided the long transcript into four blog posts, and edited them heavily. I created the graphic header at the top of each post at Canva, for free.
You can also use digital voice transcription software like Dragon Naturally Speaking.
The next time you record audio or video, turn it into a transcript. Your fans like to consume content in different formats. Make it easy for them.
4. Hound Video of the Week
“Who did this mess?” Mom asks her three dogs. You get only one guess.
