This Weekend in the Hound House:
My favorite ways to spend Christmas with my family: Play chess, Pictionary and Dominoes. Drive around and see the Christmas lights. Eat cream cheese cookies filled with apricot jam. Drag out the huge boxes of family photos and roar at how dorky we looked way back when. Sleep late. Go for long walks in the snow. Watch “A Christmas Story” and “White Christmas.” And when I’m alone, sing along with the “Hallelujah Chorus” on the radio, followed by a prayer of thanks for all I have. I’m taking a full week off to do all this stuff. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.
1. My Gift to You: Best of 2013
It’s may way of saying thanks for being one of my loyal Publicity Hounds.
This year’s free ebook, “The Best of the Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week of 2013,” includes 34 of my tips, tricks and tools that received the greatest response from readers.
This year, you’ll see a special emphasis on free tools that make generating publicity, participating in social media and managing a PR campaign a lot easier. As I compiled the ebook, I was struck by how quickly technology is changing. I can’t remember a year when we’ve had so many time- and money-saving tools at our fingertips.
Here are five ways to use the ebook:
–Regift it to your friends, followers and fans. Lead them to my blog post.
–Blog about it.
–Include it in your ezine.
–Share it on the social media sites and on Google Hangouts.
–Speakers, include the link in your handouts.
Please don’t reproduce anything from the book because I don’t want duplicate content online. But feel free to list titles of the posts (it includes bookmarks) and comment on anything you see in the book. How about choosing your three favorite tips and telling your followers about them?
Again, lead them to my blog. No opt-in required.
You’ll find lots of half-off coupons sprinkled throughout the book.
2. 30-Day Blog Challenge
You’re invited to the 30-Day blog challenge, hosted by HubSpot.
From Jan. 2 through Jan. 31, HubSpot is challenging you to start a blog, blog more frequently or write better blog posts.
Prizes? You bet!
–Companies who knock it out of the park will be profiled on the HubSpot blog, which has more than 1.5 million readers a month.
–Winning companies will also receive a complimentary ticket to INBOUND 2014, a value equal to $1,499.
Hubspot explains the contest, and you can enter by filling out the form.
3. Save the Date: January 8
As one of my Publicity Hounds, you’re not going to want to miss this it.
It’s a live interactive workshop about how you can bridge your passion, purpose and prosperity in 2014. This is your opportunity to build something real, rewarding and profitable…by the end of next year.
So that a year from now, you’ll be making your New Year’s resolutions from a very different place!
It’s a unique live event presented by Danny Iny from Firepole Marketing, and very different from what you usually see me offer.
You probably already know who Danny is, so I’ll skip the long bio. But just in case you haven’t heard of him, you should know that he’s running one of the fastest growing value-driven businesses on the net, and he’s considered by many to be one of the most respected business leaders in our space.
I hosted two free webinars with him last year, and Publicity Hounds gave more “two paws up, way up” to Danny than to anyone else I hosted in 2013.
I’ll tell you more as we get closer to the date, but for now, there are two things that you should take care of ASAP:
First, reserve your spot on the live interactive Passion, Purpose and Prosperity workshop.
Second, open up your calendar, and mark a 90-minute appointment for 1 p.m. Eastern (10 a.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Trust me, this is something you’ll want to attend live if it’s at all possible.
Make sure to do that as soon as you can. You’ll thank me later.
Here’s to a strong start for 2014.
4. Hound Video of the Week
Sorry about the cat in the opening and closing scenes, but your dog will love to sing along with this doggy rendition of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
