This Weekend in the Hound House:
This is one of my favorite days of the year. My friend, Vicky, joins me for our annual jaunt to Madison, Wis., about two hours from here. We fight the crowds at the giant farmer’s market around the Capitol, eat popcorn on State Street and watch the parade of old hippies, lunch at a vegetarian restaurant, grab bargains at the consignment shops, then head for home, exhausted.
1. Jump on Trump
I’ve been waiting—it seems like forever—for someone other than a political pundit to offer advice to the world’s ultimate Publicity Hound, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Finally, someone did.
Image consultant Sandy Dumont’s August newsletter included an interesting before-and-after critique of Trump’s suit, shirt and tie, his body language—and even his hair.
That got me thinking of all the ways coaches, consultants, hairstylists, speech coaches, historians, parenting experts, social media experts and others can tie into the Trump phenomenon.
Offer your commentary to your local TV station as “the local angle” after the next GOP debate, or the next Trump scuffle. Steal one of the ideas at my blog.
2. Help This Hound
Publicity Hound Lynette Norris Wilkinson writes:
“For the past 5 years, I have been raising funds for #Katrina survivors from the New Orleans Lower 9th Ward through the sales of my book, ‘UNTOLD: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew.’
“I’d like to make some donations during the 10th Anniversary and need ideas on maximizing publicity before, during and after the donations. The donations will be in the form of checks or items, probably to the primary K-12 school in the area, the first full-service grocery store since Katrina, and an organization focused on rebuilding.”
If you have ideas for Lynette, post them in the Comments at my blog. If she likes your idea best, you win your choice of $50 in products from my online store.
Publicity Hound Howie Rosenshine of Downington, Pa., inventor of the handle that makes shoveling snow easier, likes Wendy Raebeck’s idea of offering a commission to chiropractors who refer patients to his website to buy a shovel handle. Wendy wins a $50 coupon for Publicity Hound products.
3. Teleseminar Replay & Free Gifts
You have until Monday night at midnight to catch the replay of Thursday’s teleseminar I hosted with John Eggen on how to “Write a Transformational, Client-Attracting Book Fast that Makes Up to $150,000 Before It’s Published.”
John explained the top 5 ways to attract new clients from a book before it’s written. During the live Q&A, he also listed the 9 critical elements of every book cover, the question you can ask yourself that will help you determine the best topic for a nonfiction book, and the most important factor if you want to sell thousands of books.
Listen here. And claim your three free gifts before the deadline. One of them is worth $500.00.
