4. Hound Video of the Week
This Week in the Hound House:
I’m at war with the rabbits that live under my garden shed. I
think they’re chomping on my tulips! If you know of a good tip to
keep them away, please email JStewart@PublicityHound.com. Please,
no traps or poisons. I’m just looking for something that will
encourage them to bother the neighbors, and not me. I heard about
a powder called Scram. It works for deer but I’m not sure about
rabbits.

1. How to Rack Up YouTube Comments
======================================
What does Google love more than YouTube videos?
YouTube videos with lots of likes, shares and comments–
especially comments.
The more comments you can rack up, the higher your video will
rank in the search results, assuming you’ve given it a good
title, description and tags.
Here are five ways to encourage people to comment:
–Ask them! You can do this within the description.
–Ask by using a call-to-action overlay, a free tool YouTube
provides.
–Include the phrase “Comment on this video” within the video
itself, either halfway through or at the end, or both.
–Write a compelling tweet that teases followers and encourages
them to hop on over to YouTube and comment.
–If you already have several great comments on a video, share
the video link as a LinkedIn status update, or within a Group
that will let you promote it. Encourage people to visit, watch
the video, read the comments and join the conversation. The more
controversial the video, the better.
I learned these tips from Jeff Johnson, who’s giving away free
YouTube cheat sheets and free video training right now. If you
haven’t claimed your goodies yet, you can do so now.
Not interested in YouTube right now? That might change. At least
get the freebies and tuck them away in case you need them.
The next video in his free series will be released tomorrow, and
I’ll send a separate email so you don’t miss it.
Even though the package is free, I’m his affiliate and if you buy
anything down the road from him, I might earn a commission.

2. Win a “Good Morning America” Tour
====================================
Publicity Hounds are tripping over each other trying to claim a
coveted spot as a guest on “Good Morning America,” a primo
publicity hit.
If you can’t get booked as a guest, the next best thing is the
chance to tour the set with co-host George Stephanopoulos. And it
could be yours for only $10.
Omaze, a company that raises money and awareness for charities by
giving people a chance to meet celebrities and have once-in-a-
lifetime experiences, has created a campaign to benefit The
Mission Continues. The nonprofit awards community service
fellowships to post-9/11 veterans. They serve for six months at a
local nonprofit, with the goal of a full-time job or going back
to school, while still doing public service work.
The “Good Morning America” competition works like a charity
raffle. You can buy one entry for $10, five for $8 each, or 10
for $7 each.
Read more about this GMA fund-raiser, and a similar campaign
that will let you tour the set of “The Newsroom,” the popular HBO
drama that chronicles the behind-the-scenes events at the
fictional Atlantis Cable News channel.
A hat tip to Danielle Gano, a longtime Publicity Hound who’s the
publicist for Omaze and emailed a great pitch.

3. Publicize Your StartUp Here
====================================
Need publicity for an Internet startup or know someone who does?
Don’t miss this list of 36 places where you can submit your
startup for coverage.
Traindom, a company that helps experts build membership sites,
used many of these and was pleased with the results. Be sure to
read the Comments, where you’ll find even more places to
publicize.
Publicists, keep this list close by!

When you say “I love you,” does your dog sit there and just stare
at you? Teach the dog to say “I love you back.” Impossible? Not
for this dog.
