This Weekend in the Hound House:
You probably heard that they’re jumping from second-story windows into giant piles of snow in Boston. But did you see the clip on the Tonight Show this week?
1. How Autoposting Hurts You
If you’re autoposting the same status update to multiple social media accounts, the disadvantages far outweigh the time you’re saving.
Here’s why:
–You can’t personalize the content.
–You can’t tag others.
–You can’t customize the content for each social media audience. Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook are very different and require different types of communication.
–You can’t keep the content fresh. People who follow you on all three sites will see the same rehashed content.
Thanks to my assistant, Christine Buffaloe of Serenity Virtual Assistant Services, for this reminder. Patsi Krakoff, another one of Christine’s clients, shared these LinkedIn tips at her blog.
Not blogging yet? It isn’t too late to start. Order the recording of a teleseminar I did with Patsi on “Time-saving Tips for Smart business Blogging.” It includes the valuable checklist “101 Ways to Find Content for Your Blog” and several other resources that will save you time and make you confident you’re blogging correctly. 2. More ’50 Shades’ Publicity
Here’s another reason to tie your story idea into the blockbuster movie “50 Shades of Grey.”
It can generate more than just free publicity. It can pull traffic to your website and your social media profiles.
That’s what happened when BL Ochman wrote about the LEGO version of “50 Shades” on her Google+ account a few weeks ago.
She embeds an hysterical YouTube video from Antonio Toscano. Toscano has done LEGO versions of the trailers for many popular movies. In his “50 Shades” version, he plays his video side by side with the actual “50 Shades” trailer.
Every time I search Google for “50 Shades of Grey,” BL’s avatar pops up on the first page of search results, along with the link to her Google+ post. Her thumbnail photo is the only one I see on the page.
If you missed the tips I shared last week on story ideas that tie into the movie, you can read them .
