1. Pitching on Social Media Sites
==================================

Ask 10 journalists how they prefer to receive pitches on social
media sites, and you’ll hear 10 different answers, like these:

–“Only pitch me on my Facebook page, not on my Facebook
profile.”

–“Never pitch me on Facebook, period. It’s too intrusive.”

–“Pitch me on Twitter because I’m on top of my feed all day and
use it to track down leads.”

–“Never pitch me on Twitter. I don’t want my competitors to see
what I’m up to.”

–“Always pitch me by email.”

So what’s a confused Publicity Hound to do?

The general rule, which I’ve been teaching for years, is to pitch
journalists the way each one prefers to be pitched.

But how do you know how they prefer to be pitched if you can’t
contact them? Many journalists never respond to email pitches or
voicemail messages.

Mark 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, June 7, on your calendar
because that’s when I’ll present a webinar on “How to Use Social
Media Sites to Connect with Journalists.” You can start
registering this weekend. I’ll include the link in Saturday’s
newsletter.

2. Your Bio as an Infographic
================================

Life is not a static bio. It’s an evolving story.

So says Biogrify.com, which will soon allow you to create a fun
interactive infographic about your life to share with others.

You can sign up for an invitation to test the site when it goes
live at http://biogrify.com/

If you missed last week’s webinar on “How to Easily Create Free
or Inexpensive Infographics,” you can buy the video replay at
http://publicityhound.com/publicity-products/marketing-tapes/infographics.htm

I shared the four biggest mistakes I made experimenting with
these sites during my research for this webinar. Knowing what
they are will save you hours of time and aggravation.

3. Angry Over Free Pizza
===============================

A Dallas-based discount pizza chain has created a huge
controversy over its offer to give away thousands of large
pepperoni pizzas on the evening of June 5 to anyone who orders in
Spanish.

Pizza Patron, which markets heavily to Hispanics, created
international publicity five years ago during its “Pizza por
Pesos” campaign, when its franchise locations started accepting
Mexican pesos as a method of payment.

I love the free pizza idea. Do you? Read the story and cast your
vote in the poll at
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/business/articles/2012/05/23/20120523free-pizza-you-order-spanish.html#ixzz1wH6Sthgz and
see if a majority of respondents agree with you.

4. Hound Video
===============================

This video, about three and a half minutes, has had more than 2
million views on YouTube. It features an exercise instructor who
looks like a poodle and her obedient students–a pack of poodles
that look like the exercise instructor.

Is this an optical illusion? How do think they made this look so
lifelike? It starts slow, but stay with it.
