This Weekend in the Hound House:
My powdered peanut butter arrived and wow, wow, wow. I am in LOVE with this stuff. I am a PB snob and usually like mine crunchy. But I’m willing to give up the crunch and the fat for 85 percent fewer calories and only one Weight Watchers point. Publicity Hound Gail Sideman says some upscale grocery stores carry it. I bought mine on Amazon (affiliate link above).
1. Need You to Critique My Video
When visitors arrive at your website, do you welcome them with a warm smile, a friendly greeting and a quick explanation of who you are, what you do, and why they should stay?
I’ve been yapping for years about the video I want to create that does this. If consumers land on your website via the search engines, they need to know fairly quickly what’s in it for them. If journalists are visiting, they need to know if you’re a subject matter expert and if it’s worth their time to look around and maybe even call you for an interview.
I finally did it! I created my welcome video, complete with annotations that let viewers click from the video and go right over to my website.
Before I upload it to my site, I’d like your feedback. What do you think of the video? Please add your comments in the Comments section below the video. Don’t hit “Reply” and email your comments or they might get lost in my Inbox.
Click here to see The Publicity Hound’s welcome message and comment. And while you’re there, subscribe to my YouTube channel. To do that, you’ll need a YouTube account.
Next week, I’ll tell you about a new way I discovered to shoot and edit video, complete with music and special effects, that’s so much easier than using one of those pocket-size video cameras or your smart phone. You use one–just one–piece of equipment.
2. Get Publicity on Big TV Shows
One of the best ways to reach millions of people very quickly and boost your sales is by getting booked on a top national TV show that airs on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox.
These shows are perfect publicity opportunities for authors, speakers and experts, especially those who are lively and enthusiastic in front of the camera.
A TV appearance can push your book to the top of the Bestseller List and result in many more spin-off opportunities, from speaking engagements to invitations to appear on more TV shows. But thousands of publicists and self-promoters pitch these producers every year.
If you want the inside secrets on exactly what producers for big networks are looking for, don’t miss the free 90-minute webinar that Steve Harrison is hosting at 2 and 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, July 11.
He has invited four of his producer friends to talk about exactly what they look for when booking guests. (Their answers might surprise you.)
In addition to Steve, you’ll hear from:
–Mariann Sabol who books guests for “Live with Kelly”
–Tommy Crudup from “Rachael Ray”
–Dan Fitzpatrick, “The Wendy Williams Show”
–Stacy Rollins, Telepictures Productions
–Plus others to be announced
Together they’ll teach you things unknown to 9 out of 10 publicity-seekers.
Register for “How to Get Booked on Top National TV Programs” which is free except for your normal long distance charges.
In the interest of full disclosure, you should know I’m a compensated affiliate for Steve’s programs.
Go there now so you don’t miss out on the tips that could get you booked as a national guest.
