This Weekend in the Hound House:
My dog is still traumatized by the cherry bombs she heard last weekend and still sleeping in the bathroom. Do you know about ThunderShirt dog anxiety vests? Do they work for calming your dog?
1. Juicy Ashley Madison Tie-ins
Hackers have done more than just accessed intimate details from Ashley Madison, the online cheating site that touts “Life is short. Have an affair.”
They’ve handed you a publicity opportunity. Here are three ways to tie into this juicy story:
- Authors and speakers, if you have expertise in marriage, relationships or cheating, use the Tweak Your Biz Title Generator to come with a juicy title for an email subject line and a pitch like “7 ways to tell if your spouse is having an affair.”
- Security experts, are those badges like the ones on the Ashley Madison homepage that assure visitors the site is secure a farce?
- Divorce attorneys and therapists, what situations warrant confessing an affair to your spouse? Ever? Is your advice different if the couple has children?
If hackers continue to identify Ashley Madison users, this story will continue to have legs. Stay tuned…and start pitching.
2. Free Tool Grades Your Website
How strong is your website?
Find out in less than a minute using HubSpot’s updated Website Grader.
Your grade includes a score of 1 to 100, along with a list of recommendations on how to improve your score. If you don’t understand some of the tips, talk to your webmaster.
3. Tip for a N.Y. Times Best-seller
Judy Mandel’s memoir, Replacement Child, had been out for two years.
Then she got the news that made her cry. It had hit the New York Times best-seller list for ebooks.
It was all due to her efforts to link her book to that of Judy Blume, another famous author. Blume’s fiction novel, In the Unlikely Event, revolves around the community reaction to the real-life series of plane crashes that happened within 58 days in Elizabeth, N.J., in the ’50s. Mandel’s non-fiction memoir centers on the second of those crashes that altered her own family.
In her article Memoir Became a New York Times Best-seller. Mandel explains exactly how she got Blume’s attention. Dog treats to publicity expert Sandra Beckwith for inviting Mandel to write this guest post.
4. Hound Video of the Week
Thanks to Publicity Hound Tracey Bennett of Honolulu, Hi., for this video that shows the undying loyalty of a dog. Get the Kleenex.
