This Weekend in the Hound House:
I’m working all day today at my garden club’s annual Garden Walk. Five local gardeners welcome the public to traipse through their yards, ooh and aah, and smell the flowers. Even though my own yard looks pathetic in comparison, I love this event. I’m taking homemade four-berry cobbler to the club’s potluck picnic tonight.
1. iPad Video Training Replay
More than 400 Publicity Hounds registered for Thursday’s webinar with Mike Stewart on how to shoot video with the iPad, and many kept asking the same questions about audio and video quality.
Bottom line: These short videos for your website or for YouTube aren’t vying for an Academy Award. Most of them are simply two- to three-minute videos instructing someone with a problem on how to solve it. Or they’re giving step-by-step tips on how people can do something a little easier.
If shot on the iPad, the quality will be excellent. You content, hopefully, will be too.
Mike gave examples of three of his clients–an attorney, a nutritionist and a bug exterminator–who are making a killing using short YouTube videos, shot with an iPad and a $5 app, to pull traffic and leads, and make sales.
There were so many questions, we went for two and a half hours. Because the video file from yesterday’s training is so huge, we are offering the first 90 minutes on the replay page right now, through Monday night at midnight. After that, it goes away.
You will, however, be able to watch the entire two and a half hours (for free) and listen to all the questions and answers at several different times next week. I’ll give you more details in Tuesday’s newsletter.
I recommend that this weekend, you watch the first 90 minutes and decide if this is for you. If you still want more information, tune in again next week and watch the rest of it.
If you still have questions, the answers are most likely on the second part that will be available next week.
2. 10 Cool Instagram Videos
Publicity Hounds tell me they’re still confused about how to use the Instagram app that lets you make 15-second videos, for their publicity or PR campaigns.
This collection of 10 brands that jumped on Instagram video and rocked it might get the creative juices flowing. (I love the Victoria’s Secret one.)
3. National Publicity Summit Opens
Want to be interviewed on top TV shows like CNN, 48 Hours, ABC’s The View, Fox News and the Today Show?
Would you like to get written up in major national publications like Health, Redbook, Time, Family Circle, O the Oprah Magazine, Entrepreneur, People, INC., Parents or the New York Times?
Steve Harrison is accepting applications for the National Publicity Summit, October 16-19 in New York City, a one-of-a-kind conference where you’ll get to personally meet more than 100 top journalists and producers and pitch your story to them, one-on- one and face-to-face.
To ensure everyone gets enough one-on-one time with the media, Steve is only admitting 100 attendees, so go here now for the details or risk missing out.
All the above media were represented at previous Summits and Steve expects most to return, along with journalists and producers from many other top national TV shows, radio programs and big-time print media.
Having a face-to-face meeting with an editor or producer dramatically increases the chances they’ll write about you–or put you on their show.
When you grab your info packet, you’ll see some of the results Steve’s previous Summit attendees have gotten including how:
–Ron & Lisa Beres were booked on the Today Show.
–Steve Shapiro was the subject of a big story in “O the Oprah Magazine” after meeting the writer at the Summit.
–Lauri Loewenberg appeared on both ABC’s The View and Good Morning America.
–Jim Vonmier got on the CBS Evening News and Early Show as a result of the training and contacts the Summit gave him.
–Kelly McCloskey used what she learned to get booked on Oprah.
–Barry Spilchuk was interviewed on Fox News Channel within just five hours of meeting the producer at the Summit!
–Sandy Clemmons got written-up in Health Magazine, Money Magazine and TV Guide-all from meeting journalists face-to-face. Even better, she says since attending her royalty checks have gone up over 700 percent!
Again, only 100 attendees will be admitted and the early registration discount goes away after 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, July 23, so if you’re interested in attending go here now.
4. Hound Video of the Week
Watch as this dumb weiner dog can’t figure out how to get out of his soda can “crate.” And then check out what the smart weiner dog does.
