This Weekend in the Hound House:
No rest for me this weekend. I’m speaking twice today at
Publishing University in Chicago, sponsored by the Independent
Book Publishers Association. Then it’s back home to put the
finishing touches on the fourth edition of my ebook, “How to be a
Kick-butt Publicity Hound.” It has taken my editing and
proofreading team several long months to make it ready for prime
time, and it’s almost done. Stay tuned for my special offer just
for Publicity Hounds.

1. How to Wow a Blogger
======================================
While helping a client launch a startup, I stumbled across a
fabulous, free step-by-step guide this week that takes you by the
hand and walks you through the process of how to pitch a blogger.
It was written by the folks at Inkybee, the website I told you
about a few weeks ago, that lets you test drive their new blogger
outreach service. Just plug in a topic and Inkybee will return a
list of bloggers and rank them by influence.
The rest is up to you. Sort of.
When I told you about it, I overlooked a small blurb at the
bottom of their website about the free blogger outreach guide.
What a find!
The beautifully illustrated 39-page report shows you how to
define your business objectives, research the blogs you want to
contact, build the relationship and craft a compelling “offer.”
No lavish gifts. Think great content.
You can invite bloggers to a special event or interview, offer
them the chance to review your product before it launches, or
give them a discount code to share with their readers.
You’ll find an entire chapter on how to make the pitch personal,
tips for making it easy for bloggers to write about you, and how
to provide quality content. There’s lots more. Grab your free
tips for blogger outreach.

2. 7 Steps to YouTube Domination
====================================
How I wish I had a point-by-point checklist when I started
producing videos for YouTube!
It would have kept me from making another critical mistake:
trying to move viewers from my videos directly to a sales page
where I asked for the order.
Don’t sell!
First, capture the lead and get the customer into your marketing
funnel by giving away valuable content in exchange for an email
address.
Then, nurture the lead by providing more and more content
consistently, like this newsletter. Give the person time to know,
like and trust you. Then, and only then, try to sell.
Jeff Johnson’s seven-point checklist for YouTube domination hangs
on my wall, right above my monitor, and keeps me from trying to
sell, sell, sell on YouTube. (Is it tempting to try to sell!)
The marketers who are making a killing on that site are producing
dozens of short, high-content videos that generate publicity and
pull in traffic. The marketers then capture leads and convert a
high percentage of them to sales.
Publicity Hounds are thanking me for sharing Jeff’s free YouTube
cheat sheets and video training that I’ve been telling you about,
and he has just released the third video in the series. You can
watch all of them, and download all your free cheat sheets.
Even though the package is free, I’m his affiliate and if you buy
anything down the road from him, I might earn a commission.
