This Week in the Hound House:
Remember when I told you about the fun Christmas gift I was planning for my sisters and brother? They loved it! Read all about it at my blog.
1. How to Influence Influencers
Think about the one person you wish knew about you.
It could be your favorite author who has sold millions of books. Or a blogger who has a huge audience and might write about you, if you could figure out how to catch her attention.
What about that NPR big shot who you’ve pitched twice with no response?
They’re called influencers. And if you’re a savvy Publicity Hound, you’re willing to work like a dog to catch their attention.
Help is on the way thanks to Prezly, a paid service that lets PR people use a variety of rich media to tell their clients’ stories to the world.
They created a helpful slidedeck of tips from PR experts on “How to Influence Influencers: 10 Tips by Top #PR Thinkers.”
That’s me on the far right on the cover slide, and this is my tip, written specifically for PR people:
“Show clients how to share the influencers’ content, promote their books and speaking engagements, and comment on positions the influencers have taken on controversial topics. I receive dozens of pitches a week, and I prefer they come directly from the source, not from a PR Person.” (Sorry, PR pro.)
Don’t miss the rest of these tips.
You can try the service for free for 15 days. Register here.
2. January 5 Deadline
If you’ve been licking your chops, waiting for a special in my store, don’t miss the Jan. 5 deadline.
Thirteen of my most popular products are half-price when you use the special coupon code inside my ebook, “The Best of The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week of 2014.”
There’s still time to regift this to your friends and followers.
Let them know about the 26 snack-size tips that will help them promote their expertise, their businesses, and their books and other products.
I was careful to include my best tips on book publishing and marketing because so many Publicity Hounds are publishing ebooks.
The half-off coupons are sprinkled throughout the book.
Give your friends and followers this link when you regift: http://publicityhound.com/bestof2014. Tell them they can use the handy app we created to download the ebook to their smartphone or tablet.
3. Self-promote on the Road
If you travel a lot and don’t want to miss one opportunity to promote yourself, even if you’re on the other side of the world, you’ll love a blog post I discovered last night.
64 Essential Tools for the Location Independent Entrepreneur includes must-have equipment, apps, web essentials and other resources. They can help you be more efficient, create and share content, and have as much flexibility as you would if you were working at home.
The list comes from Sean Ogle, who quit his job as a financial analyst in 2009, moved to Thailand, built a business and now teaches entrepreneurs how to run their businesses from anywhere in the world while living the life they love.
The links in his Travel section will save you a bundle of money on airfare and lodging.
4. Hound Video of the Week
In this Vine video, a husky puppy tries its darndest to howl. It’s 6 seconds of pure delight.
