This Weekend in the Hound House:
I’m spending a second fun Saturday with my good friend and assistant, Christine Buffaloe, before she escapes Wisconsin’s cold weather and heads back to San Felipe, Mexico next week. A little hiking, lots of eating, and then settling in to watch the movie “The Way” with Martin Sheen.
1. Behave. Cameras Are Everywhere.
Jody Warner, a Dallas prosecutor, lost her job recently after unloading on an Uber driver while she was drunk.
The driver recorded the rant on video, and Warner called a press conference to apologize.
Crisis lesson:
Cameras are everywhere. They’re on elevators, in restaurants, on street signs, on lapels, on USB flash drives, on a lapel pin, on wi-fi AC adapters, on electrical outlets, and many more places.
Act like a jerk and it could be the worst type of publicity you could imagine.
Also, when making an apology, don’t use the lame “that’s not who I am.” Sorry, but it is.
To do: Learn the other lessons from this debacle in the article “Drunken rant, caught on video, costs Dallas prosecutor her job.”

2. Solution to Another Facebook Problem
Facebook just confirmed it’s testing a new way to determine what people see in their news feeds–bad news if you own a Facebook page.
The test involves moving all content from businesses and other publishers out of the news feed and into the new explore feed. Unless they pay to promote it.
What can you do?
Website Magazine offers several suggestions. The best one encourages you to link to your Facebook content and include calls to action on your web pages, blog posts, emails, YouTube videos and from content on other social media sites. Even though Facebook controls how people see your content directly on Facebook, it doesn’t have power over whether people come to it through other means.
To do: Read the other tips from Kayla Matthews in her article “Facebook Is Separating Business Posts in the News Feed: What Page Admins Can Do.”
