This Weekend in the Hound House:
I’m swamped with yard work this weekend. But if you’re not, see “Gravity” with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The special effects are mind-blowing and you’ll constantly be thinking, “How did they film that?” See the 3D version, at a theater near you.
1. 5 Ways to Use PhotoFunia Photos
The free, fun little tool for inserting a photo of your face, or a short text message, into photos at PhotoFunia.com has a variety of uses for Publicity Hounds:
–Use these in place of boring stock photos in your blog posts.
–Dress up your email newsletter.
–Create a photo and share it on Facebook. There’s a template for inserting yourself into a newspaper, and another one for a magazine.
–Create a photo to use on one of your social media profiles like I did on my Google+ profile.
–Use this one VERY carefully. How about inserting the face of a journalist you want to pitch into the photo of cup of cappuccino, or onto a Times Square billboard, or onto the wall in an art museum? But do not send the photo as an attachment. It might be a fun way to connect with a journalist who you know would welcome this. (This would get MY attention!)
Note that you can’t use PhotoFunia for commercial use. That means you can’t imprint the photos on product packages, etc.
2. Year-End Ideas for a Tips List
Start thinking about a tips list you can use in place of a press release for some year-end publicity. Ideas:
–The 10 Best Facebook Tips of 2013.
–7 Ideas for Organizing Your iPhone Apps
–9 Ways to Use Funny Videos in Your Business
–11 New Solutions for Thwarting Identity Theft
–8 Secrets the IRS Doesn’t Want You to Know
But don’t just write a simple tip sheet and be done with it. I’ll show you how to use that tip sheet in multiple ways to wow journalists, give your social media followers great content to share, and create the list in several multi-media formats. See “17 Ways to Use a Tips List to Make it More Powerful Than Ever.”
