This Weekend in the Hound House:

I can’t stop thinking about what I saw at the hair salon this week. They sweep up hair from the floor and putg it into plastic bags. It’s in demand by clients who sprinkle it around the perimeter of their yards to keep the deer away. Who knew? What do they do in the fall to get rid of the hair? Rake it?

Publicity Hound Paul Krupin read the tips I told you about this week on how to use USNPL, the giant media database.

Leave it to Paul to come up advice that was much better than the ones I offered.

“To get newspapers, radio and TV to say yes, you have to localize the release. There are lots of ways to do this, but the most important three ways to do this is this: People, people, people.” Paul says:  

–You have to be there.
–You have to engage the locals.
–You have to give real value to the local community.

2. You Are the Media

You have all the tools at your fingertips to create your own media outlets. You can have your own station (YouTube), your own radio show (a podcast), your own newspaper (Paper.li) and your own magazine (a blog).

On Goodreads and Amazon, YOU are the book reviewer. On Twitter, you have your own digital teletype machine.

3. Aha Nuggets About Publishing

If there’s a book inside you that’s dying to get out, but it’s stuck, here’s a nifty inspirational ebook filled with nuggets to get you moving.
