Weigh in on the Michael Jackson verdict

I know. I know. You’re sick of Michael Jackson. I am too.

But true Publicity Hounds who have something to offer the media don’t stop here. They think of ways to piggyback onto the not guilty verdict. Some examples:

—What do child advocates have to say about the pop star, who admitted on camera that he sees nothing wrong with a grown man sleeping in the same bed with young boys? Does the Jackson verdict have any bearing whatsoever on other child molestation cases? Does the verdict mean children will be reluctant to report abuse?

—Was the prosecution sloppy? I’ve seen a variety of attorneys and law school professors commenting on local and national TV about holes in the prosecution’s case.

—Was justice served? Talk radio is blaming star-struck jurors for delivering not-guilty verdicts in favor of celebrity defendants like OJ Simpson, Robert Blake and now Jackson. Yet the jury members say that from the start, they agreed they wouldn’t be swayed by Jackson’s celebrity status. What do you think? Weigh in with your comment in a letter to the editor.

—Is Jackson’s career over? Speakers, authors and experts on pop culture can comment on what they think is ahead for Jackson.

If you’re the local angle to this national story, don’t forget your local TV news.
