Lesson #78: Get into Google and Yahoo News
You can use a paid press release distribution service to get your press release into Google and Yahoo news.
Here are other ways, explained in more detail in this article by Kim Roach, a staff writer for SiteProNews and SEO-News newsletters.
If you publish frequent news and articles, you can apply to Google to have your site included in Google News. Google prefers only websites with an editorial review process and many contributors. If you are accepted, Google Newsbot will hit your site frequently and you will receive an extra stream of traffic.
You can also suggest your news site be added to the Yahoo News index.
Apply here and fill out the form.
Here’s another tip from Kim on how to get into Google News.
Do a Google search for whatever keywords apply to your press release. When Google delivers the organic list on the left side of the screen, make note of which websites are high on the list. Then find out if any of them allow you to submit articles or press releases.
One of those websites, Kim says, is American Chronicle. Go to the Submit Your Work page and sign up to be a contributor.
If they accept you, you can submit articles along with your photo. Many of their articles are syndicated on Google News and are available to the millions of people who go to Google News daily.
These sites love “how-to” articles like “10 tax-saving tips the IRS wishes you didn’t know.” If you can’t write, or you don’t have a lot of time to write, follow the handy template I provide with the CD or electronic transcript called “How to Write How-to Articles for Newspapers, Magazines & Trade Journals.”
Opportunity #78: Tie-in with upcoming holidays
If you can tie your product, service, cause or issue to major or minor holidays, write a press release. See Special Report #14: How to Piggyback Your Story Ideas onto Holidays and Anniversaries.
