Bulldog Reporter: Please start blogging

One of the best little tip sheets to hit my email box is Journalists Speak Out, the ezine published by Bulldog Reporter and edited by Brian Pittman.

I find something useful in every one of them, like the nifty pitching tips in yesterday’s issue under the headline “Be a Resource, Not a ‘One Pitch’ Wonder: Four Ways to Keep Your Pitches — and Contact Information — Top of Mind in the Media.”

They’re the types of tips my Publicity Hounds love. But unfortunately, they aren’t archived anywhere, nor do they show up on a blog. So I can’t link to them. In other words, I could be driving a lot of traffic to their website. But they’re making it difficult for me to do so.

Bulldog Reporter sells pricey media lists. It hosts expensive teleconferences. It also publishes content-packed newsletters with advice on how to pitch the media. It sponsors the prestigious “Bulldog Awards for Excellence in Media Relations & Publicity” and hosts the Media Relations 2006 conference.

I’ve recommended their services to my Hounds, and I love what they do. But why, oh why, do they make it so difficult for people like me to share the good stuff they’re offering for free?

At the very least, they should start archiving the newsletters. Or offer some of the content at a blog.

If you haven’t signed up for “Journalists Speak Out” or their other three free newsletters—Winning PR Campaigns, PR Agency News and PR People on the Move—you can do so at their website.
