Hot magazines for 2006 appeal mostly to women

If you’re pitching the big magazines, take a look at AdWeek’s annual “Hot List” for 2006, which honors magazines that are “setting the magazine industry afire”.

Not surprisingly, most of them appeal to women:

1.  PEOPLE

2.  O, THE OPRAH MAGAZINE

3.  REAL SIMPLE

4.  US WEEKLY

5.  MORE

6.  LUCKY

7.  IN STYLE

8.  COOKING LIGHT

9.  GLAMOUR

10. TEEN VOGUE

AdWeek’s criteria include increased ad page and revenues, increased circulation, interviews with media buyers and consultants, and Adweek’s own editorial judgment.

The best way to get into big magazines like these is to submit briefs, fillers and quizzes, which editors love because they help fill odd-size holes on a page and need little editing.

What briefs can you submit to get into these magazines or others?

Thanks to Wooden Horse Publishing’s excellent ezine for this item on the Top 10 list.
