Help This Hound, a 15-year-old, Promote His Creative Videos

I can’t remember the last time I received a plea for help from a creative 15-year-old who shows so much potential that I couldn’t bear to let him slip away.

He’s Sean Nguyen, who lives in the Bay area and wants ideas on how to promote his clever YouTube channel that includes 53 videos. A few poke fun at his Vietnamese heritage. Others are about everyday things high school students can relate to, like homework, Netflix and procrastinating—anything he finds humorous.

It isn’t the topics or the content that are unusual. He differentiates himself from most other YouTubers by creative editing. Each video takes an entire day to produce, usually on a weekend. Editing can take several more hours. Sean adds fun music and a lot of graphic elements you rarely see on amateur video.

He has racked up almost 1,000 subscribers but he isn’t sure where to go next with the project. He writes:

I know a lot of people are going through difficult times, and I hope that my videos are the one thing that will make them feel better when everything is crashing down around them.

One of my biggest goals in life is to make people smile, and I can do that on a more widespread basis if I get known by more people through my creative outlet: YouTube. Can you help me potentially expand my horizons, and reach out to the greater YouTube community?

I have done extensive research, and have come to the conclusion that an immense amount of successful YouTubers started with PR companies from the very beginning. YouTube is something more than money to me! I want to reach more people! YouTube is my passion, and I know if I’m successful the money will follow.

Is there anything you could do to help me for more publicity, such as getting into newspapers, radio stations, etc. to promote my YouTube channel? My target audience is teenagers, male and female, who watch YouTube. Because I have been interviewed by the Morgan Hill Times, my city’s newspaper, I know that my niche responds well to this. After the article was published, it created a lot of buzz. My subscriber and follower count shot up.

Can you help me broaden my horizons and get more publicity?

I told Sean
