Press Release Tip 38
Use charts and tables
Use charts and tables within your press release, or link to them, to keep large amounts of information, or statistics, organized and easy to read.
I showed you a table in Tip 16.
The best types of charts for press releases are bar charts and pie charts. Here’s an explanation of the various types of charts available in Microsoft Excel.
If you supply your own chart, and you’re submitting the press release to a top-tier newspaper or magazine, they will probably use their own graphics department to work with your statistics and create their own chart in the style and format their publication uses. You can insert the chart directly into the release so they can see it quickly, or you can link to it.
If you’re submitting your press release to one of the press release distribution services, publish the chart to your website, or store it in the cloud, and link to it.
Opportunity #38 to write a press release: Industry programs
If your industry group is offering a new program for its members, or if you’re a speaker or consultant who’s presenting a program to an industry group, write a press release.
Next: Use numbered lists.
