Press Release Tip 13

Press Release Tip 13

Write a boilerplate paragraph in longer press releases

The sixth part of a press release is the boilerplate but only in longer releases..

It’s a paragraph of information at the end, similar to an “About Us” paragraph at your website. It summarizes quickly what your company does.

Not all press release samples in this course include boilerplate, and I didn’t use one in the sample release for my tips booklets. This paragraph presents an opportunity to state your company’s accomplishments and, more importantly, the value you bring to customers.

Cision, which owns PRWeb, a press release distribution service, offers 7 examples of successful press release boilerplates.

In each case, Cision explains why the boilerplate goes above and beyond the ordinary.

Opportunity #13 to write a press release: A controversial topic

If you or your company or organization has an opinion on a controversial topic, write a press release, and include a quote from someone in your organization. Controversial topics can include everything from national issues such as abortion and gun control to local issues such as proposed zoning laws.

When you’re done, you can also use the same content to send a letter to the editor or to your local and national newspapers and magazines.

Next: The optional note to the media,  and the Safe Harbor Statement for public companies.
