Dining with a Journalist?<br \/>\n================================<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick tip from a webinar I hosted last night for members<br \/>\nof The Publicity Hound Mentor Program on what to say and how to<br \/>\nact when you&#8217;re meeting a journalist for lunch or dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Even before the wait staff takes your order, ask the journalist,<br \/>\n&#8220;How would you like to handle the check? Would you like to go<br \/>\nDutch?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reporter will probably be thankful you asked because she<br \/>\nmight work for a newspaper that has an ethics policy prohibiting<br \/>\nemployees from accepting anything of value. If she wants to pay<br \/>\nfor your meal, that&#8217;s fine. She&#8217;ll probably put it on her expense<br \/>\naccount.<\/p>\n<p>But never insist on paying. And never drink alcohol&#8211;not even a<br \/>\nglass of beer&#8211;when you&#8217;re with journalists. Loose lips sink<br \/>\nships.<\/p>\n<p>=================================<br \/>\n3.
