\n1. Welcome to My Addams Family Basement
\n=====================================<\/p>\n
Do you hate recording talking-head videos as much as I do?<\/p>\n
There. I’ve said it. I hate recording talking-head videos!<\/p>\n
Here’s why.<\/p>\n
Before I can hit the “record” button, I must:<\/p>\n
–Clean my home office. This includes ripping all the
\ninspirational post-its and to-do notes from the walls, and then
\nscooping up papers, notebooks, periodicals and other junk from my
\ndesk and throwing it into a pile in the corner.<\/p>\n
–Drag out my big wooden ladder so I can clip one of the lights
\nonto the side of it.<\/p>\n
–Look for the blue gel sheets that I attach to the lights with
\nwooden clothes pins.<\/p>\n
–Search for the damn clothes pins.<\/p>\n
–Retrieve my tripod from the closet, set it up and attach the
\ncamera, then reposition it until it’s perfect.<\/p>\n
–Wash and style my hair.<\/p>\n
–Paint my face.<\/p>\n
–Find something decent to wear.<\/p>\n
–Tape my talking points to the wall behind the camera.<\/p>\n
Only then can I start recording a few dry runs. When I’m done
\nrecording, I rip everything down and put the office back together
\nagain.<\/p>\n
Last night, I decided to turn a small corner of the apple cellar
\nin my Addams Family basement into a video studio. I can set up
\nthe equipment once and everything stays in place forever. When
\nit’s time to record a video, all I have to do is gussy up, run
\ndownstairs, turn on the lights and start recording.<\/p>\n
My basement is fine for Lurch and Uncle Fester. But not for
