Carney, city editor of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.t-g.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shelbyville Times-Gazette<\/a> in Tennessee in his list of tips titled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.t-g.com\/story\/1190067.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Have Pity on Your News Staff.&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s must reading, even if you&#8217;re dealing with journalists who work on the most up-to-date equipment.\u00a0John&#8217;s caveats include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;Never send a press release as an attachment,\u00a0or as a PDF file.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;Make sure all photos that you&#8217;re offering journalists are high-resolution, scanned\u00a0at 300 dots per inch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;Remember that older computers like his\u00a0iMac installed in 1999\u00a0can&#8217;t read thumbnail-size photos.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;Never embed your photos into a Word document.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Good reminders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By the way, notice \u00a0that at the end of the tips,\u00a0John mentions his <a href=\"http:\/\/lakeneuron.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal blog.<\/a>\u00a0If you&#8217;re trying to get into his newspaper, reading this blog is one of the most valuable ways you could be spending your time. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why? And\u00a0he&#8217;s a game show geek.<\/p>\n<p>Are you checking to see if the journalists you&#8217;re trying to get in front of blog, then using that information to try to build relationships with them?
