Fiction writers often struggle with what to write about when sending email to their email list. Here are 19 ideas, most of which work just as well for non-fiction writers and for blog topics. Print this list and tack it to your bulletin board, so you’ll never be lacking for something to email.<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  1. What’s the most unusual thing in your office<\/strong> that inspires, entertains or humors you? Mine is a miniature replica of my first car: a 1962 white Chevy Nova we affectionately nicknamed “The White Tornado.” If you have an old photo of your car, include it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. What writing problems<\/strong> do you struggle with, and how do you solve them? This shows your human side.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Share fun facts about the locale<\/strong> where your romance novels or fiction takes place.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Pay attention to\u00a0questions people are emailing you<\/strong>. Often, these are also great fodder for a blog.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. What sparks your creativity?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Who is your hero?<\/strong> \u00a0And why?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. What one event in your childhood had the greatest effect on your writing career?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Who is your best friend<\/strong>, and what do you like best about him or her? \u00a0List your best friend’s\u00a0favorite books. How do they compare to yours?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. What “lesson from mom”<\/strong> do you still live by today?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. What’s the one thing you want to accomplish,<\/strong> or write about, before you die?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  12. If you could spend a week anywhere in the world,<\/strong> where would it be? \u00a0Would you write or read there, or do something else?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  13. Do you have a pet that keeps you company when you write? \u00a0If so, write about your pet.<\/strong> Has it taught you anything about writing? \u00a0If so, what?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  14. What’s the worst writing mistake you ever made<\/strong> that taught you a valuable lesson?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  15. What’s the most unusual place<\/strong> you have visited?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  16. What’s the most unusual book you’ve read that’s made a lasting impression?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  17. If you could have a quiet dinner with just one author,<\/strong> who would you choose? What would you want to discuss? What questions would you ask?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  18. Create a survey<\/strong>\u00a0that’s related to the topic of your book\u00a0and share it with readers.\u00a0\u00a0Report the results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  19. Create a fun quiz<\/strong> about one of your books and award a cool prize.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Authors, what do you blog about? Which posts elicit the greatest number of comments from your readers? What other questions do you have about sending emails to your fans?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
