You<br \/>\ncan even download the free mp3 and transcript.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to be concentrating on Number 6, &#8220;Follow better<br \/>\npeople,&#8221; and Number 7, &#8220;Align yourself with outstanding strategic<br \/>\npartners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A fast, easy way to do that is by looking at the Twitter lists of<br \/>\npeople who I respect, and then following the people they&#8217;re<br \/>\nfollowing and paying attention to their tweets. Newspaper Ezines<br \/>\n======================================<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re pitching traditional media, it&#8217;s all too easy to<br \/>\noverlook email newsletters, or ezines, published by those same<br \/>\nmedia.<\/p>\n<p>In Milwaukee, for example, the Biz Times, a local business bi-<br \/>\nweekly newspaper, publishes nine ezines devoted to topics such as<br \/>\nreal estate, politics, marketing and PR, manufacturing, money and<br \/>\nnonprofits. The issues are then archived online.<\/p>\n<p>Readers, including those who don&#8217;t subscribe to the print<br \/>\neditions, can subscribe to the ezines for free. These kinds of<br \/>\npublications are often scrambling for content. They&#8217;re great<br \/>\nvehicles for press releases, calendar events and other news that<br \/>\ndoesn&#8217;t make it into the print editions.<\/p>\n<p>Media websites often have excellent search engine ranking&#8211;a big<br \/>\nplus for you, particularly if the archives include your press<br \/>\nrelease that has a link to your own website or blog.<\/p>\n<p>At smaller publications, the editors typically are responsible<br \/>\nfor both print and electronic versions. Bigger media outlets have<br \/>\nseparate staffs. So check their websites before you pitch.<\/p>\n<p>If your target market includes local businesses or nonprofits,<br \/>\ngetting your story into local business journals is a must. But<br \/>\nknowing how to meet and pitch the editors and reporters can be<br \/>\ntricky. That&#8217;s<br \/>\nwhy her producers are on the lookout for guests who can explain<br \/>\nhow we can look and dress with class, without spending big bucks.<br \/>\nIn other words, live the good life like a cheapskate, her<br \/>\nAustralia publicity stunt notwithstanding.<\/p>\n<p>A former guest booker for Oprah will give you lots of tips on how<br \/>\nto pitch the big TV talk shows when she&#8217;s Steve Harrison&#8217;s guest<br \/>\nduring a teleseminar at 2 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16.
