Food Freebies Soothe Tax Bite<br \/>\n====================================<\/p>\n<p>Publicity Hounds can learn a thing or two from the restaurant<br \/>\nindustry.<\/p>\n<p>Offer free stuff on April 15.<\/p>\n<p>Cinnabon, Maggie Moo&#8217;s and Dairy Queen handed out free samples on<br \/>\ntax filing day. Taco Del Mar offered free tacos. Starbucks gave<br \/>\naway free coffee.<\/p>\n<p>McCormick &amp; Schmick&#8217;s and P.F. Chang&#8217;s had food deals all day.<br \/>\nWhole Foods picked up the sales tax all day on grocery bills at<br \/>\nstores in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and<br \/>\nGeorgia.<\/p>\n<p>Publicity for the food freebies was EVERYWHERE.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if any of the restaurants incorporated mobile<br \/>\nmarketing into their campaigns, but this would have been the<br \/>\nperfect opportunity to send text messages to customers letting<br \/>\nthem know how to soothe the tax bite.<\/p>\n<p>Next year, make a note to yourself early in the year and think of<br \/>\nsomething fun you can give away on April 15. Then start promoting<br \/>\nit long before tax day arrives. The media love these local tie-<br \/>\nins to filing taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming holidays worth considering for freebies: Earth Day on<br \/>\nApril 22 and Mother&#8217;s Day on May 9.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t let these holidays sneak up on you!
