Read blogger\u00a0Norm Schriever’s bio<\/a> and pay attention to how he weaves humor throughout the chronological milestones in his life.<\/p>\n
Here’s the kicker. At the bottom, there’s a link to\u00a0“Why I write.”<\/a> It’s a simple list of 8 reasons. and the very best one is at the end.<\/p>\n
Consider a similar list that you link from your own bio. Artists, why do you paint? Musicians, why do you jam? Coaches, why do you coach?<\/p>\n
After reading Norm’s bio and “Why I write” list, I feel like I know him.<\/p>\n

3. 10 Book Marketing Mistakes<\/h3>\n
I discovered Norm Schriever when I saw a link on Google+ to his blog post on “10 Book Marketing Mistakes Self-Published Authors Make.”<\/a><\/p>\n
You hear me crabbing all the time about the third item on his list: “Not establishing a niche.”<\/p>\n
I do a lot of phone consulting with authors. The first question I ask them is, “Who is the target market for your book?”<\/p>\n
“Everybody,” some of them say.<\/p>\n
That’s the red flag that the book is doomed to fail. If you wrote it for everybody, you must market to everybody, and that’s impossible.<\/p>\n
