Story Ideas from January through June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that if you&#8217;re pitching TV,\u00a0it helps if you have compelling visuals. <strong>Think: People. Color. Motion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>St.\u00a0 Patrick&#8217;s Day<\/strong> offers lots of opportunities for coverage.\u00a0 Invite TV cameras into your company for unusual St. Patty&#8217;s Day celebrations. If you&#8217;re creating a product that&#8217;s green today, let the media know. <br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0 <\/li>\n<li>March is <strong>American Red Cross Month<\/strong>, an opportune time for companies and non-profits to encourage their employees and others to give blood.\u00a0 Issue a challenge to your employees on how many gallons of blood people in various departments can give, and invite the TV cameras to cover it. If you&#8217;re in a local service club, challenge another service club. <br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0 <\/li>\n<li>March 7-11 is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanpressinstitute.org\/Curriculum\/NIE\/NIE-Week.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Newspapers in Education Week<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 If your school uses newspapers in the classroom, let your local newspaper know.\u00a0 You might be part of a story. <br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/li>\n<li>March\u00a0is a big time for special end-of-winter sales.\u00a0 Invite the media into your store for a story about <strong>how retailers prepare for sales<\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/li>\n<li><strong>Stories about plastic surgery are big<\/strong> this month as people start thinking about what they&#8217;ll look like in a bathing suit.\u00a0 TV reporters love before-and-after stories.\u00a0 Invite a reporter to follow you through surgery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before you pitch, read what I wrote last week on 6 ways to romance journalists with your pitch.<\/p>\n<p>What about you?
