Some of my ideas also apply to owners of bars and nightclubs.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nGo &#8216;behind the scenes&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use your Facebook Fan Pages to offer a few recipes from your kitchen. You don&#8217;t have to give away all your trade secrets, but your Fans would appreciate knowing that you&#8217;re passing along a recipe for your popular Sour Cream Apple Pie just to them. This is a great way to create Fan loyalty. If your bartenders notice that customers are wild about your\u00a0ice tea-based cocktails, for example, offer a recipe.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>You can also\u00a0use your Facebook Fan pages to offer customers special coupons.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Share trends. Let people know what trends you&#8217;re seeing in your business.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/nightlife\/articles\/04\/cocktails\/trends.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This article<\/a>\u00a0in New York magazine is a good example of cocktail trends that customers might want to know about.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Share with your customers and others what your chefs eat at home.\u00a0Do they plop in front of the TV with a big bag of\u00a0Doritos after a long shift? Or do they have a special healthy\u00a0snack they can whip up in five minutes? If so, provide the recipe!<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Interview customers about what they like about your food and drinks, and upload those\u00a0 videos to your Facebook Fan Pages.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Upload photos of people having a good time (with their permission, of course) to photo-sharing sites like Flickr and PhotoBucket.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Make it easy for customers to find you<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Let customers know where they can follow you on Twitter,\u00a0Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other social networking sites where they congregate.\u00a0Print this information on your menu, in your paid ads,\u00a0on flyers they can take with them, on direct-mail advertising,\u00a0on coasters at your bar,\u00a0and on signs in your window.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Offer this information online, too&#8212;at your website, at your blog, in your email signature,\u00a0and in videos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Connect with journalists and bloggers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many journalists are now on the social networking sites, particularly Twitter and Facebook. If you&#8217;re dying to get in front of a particular journalist, Google their name and see if you can find them on a social media site.\u00a0I Googled\u00a0&#8220;Allison Perlik&#8221; and found her on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Check out Harry Hoover&#8217;s wiki of\u00a0media people using Twitter\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/twitteringjournalists.pbworks.com\/w\/page\/22555132\/Media%20Outlets%20Using%20Twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media outlets using Twitter.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nAsk your customers for suggestions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your customers might have some great ideas for ways you can interact with them on the social media sites.
