{"id":25054,"date":"2006-04-22T07:15:33","date_gmt":"2006-04-22T07:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/publicityhound.com\/blog\/?p=579"},"modified":"2025-06-12T16:30:36","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T16:30:36","slug":"the-view-producers-know-what-they-want-dont-try-to-change-their-minds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/purelysupp.com\/publicity\/marketing\/tv-radio\/the-view-producers-know-what-they-want-dont-try-to-change-their-minds\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The View&#8217; producers know what they want&#8211;don&#8217;t try to change their minds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Publicity Hound writes:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have a client who has been booked on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/id\/3032633\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;Today&#8217;<\/a> show as part of their &#8220;Love After 40&#8221; series.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t get the segment directly. &#8216;Today&#8217;\u00a0called us after seeing the local NBC segment about my client.\u00a0 I am wondering the best wording to use to capitalize on this exciting opportunity.\u00a0 I was turned down by <a href=\"http:\/\/abc.go.com\/shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;The View&#8217;<\/a> but I feel like I should call again to let them know the &#8216;Today&#8217; show wants my client and to suggest that perhaps they should take another look.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also want to call our local newspaper and More magazine to let them know about the &#8216;Today&#8217; show.\u00a0Any advice on how to word my conversation with these other media outlets?<\/p>\n<p>My answer:<\/p>\n<p>When a media outlet says it isn&#8217;t\u00a0interested, never try to change their minds. Media people hate that. It\u2019s as though you\u2019re asking, \u201cDon\u2019t you think you made a bad decision that you want to reverse?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a teleseminar called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicityhound.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;How to Get booked on &#8216;The View,&#8217;<\/a>&#8221; that I hosted a few years ago with\u00a0Erin Saxton, a former producer for &#8220;The View,&#8221;\u00a0Erin\u00a0said\u00a0the show is\u00a0very different from most other talk shows. It\u2019s known as \u201cThe Selfish Women Show.\u201d In fact, Erin says that\u2019s what they call themselves because the show focuses on how women can help themselves, pamper themselves and make themselves feel good.\u00a0So forget about \u201cThe View\u201d and move on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Definitely let the local newspaper know about the \u201cToday\u201d show. This is news and they should be interested. When you pitch to More, let the story idea stand on its own.
