Beckwith 40<\/a>, written by\u00a0 branding expert Harry Beckwith, strategic director of Beckwith Partners, a marketing firm.<\/p>\n<p>Take, for example, three of his 40 points:<\/p>\n<p>He says: &#8220;Your biggest competitor is not a competitor; it&#8217;s your prospect&#8217;s indifference.\u00a0&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Translation:\u00a0&#8220;When it comes to grabbing the publicity spotlight,\u00a0your biggest competitor is not a competitor; it&#8217;s a journalist&#8217;s or a blogger&#8217;s indifference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>He says: &#8220;Prospects decide in the first five seconds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Translation:\u00a0&#8220;Journalists and bloggers decide if they like your pitch in the first five seconds.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>He says:\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;People don\u2019t care how good you are. They care how good you can make them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Translation:\u00a0&#8220;Journalists and bloggers don&#8217;t care how good you are.
